2002 Lone Hero Canadian made for HBO Lou Diamond Phillips, Sean Patrick Flaner
“Standard story of a biker gang taking over a town. The story starts with Phillips and a cohort robbing a store and injuring a salesperson. The bikers tell everyone in the store that if any one tells who committed the crime, the gang will take revenge on them and their families. Flanery nonetheless proceeds to arrest them with a gun filled with blanks when he next sees them. The gang breaks their leader out of jail, killing the policemen in the process.”  Imdb.com This is a modern, I think well done, telling of the old formula of biker gang and justice.  Phillips is more real and menacing then those in past as there is none of the jive hippy talk.

1971 Weekend with the Babysitter Written and directed by Tom Laughlin (of Billy Jack fame) under name of Don Henderson as almost a remake of his 1969 The Babysitter again with George E. Carey. A good look back at the '70s and this time the bikers are more normal with motocross scenes. They make good point of how the bikers are always bad in film. I think this is Laughlin's best film, and with The Babysitter, and Born Losers makes a better (biker) trilogy than the Billy Jack films.

Jan  1970 Hell’s Bloody Devils aka Operation M.; Smashing the Crime Syndicate (UK): Swastika Savages; The Fakers (USA) (TV title)“A government agent tries to break a Neo-Fascist group in California” IMDb.  Ok, I felt I needed a score card for this Al Adamson film.  The bike gang is working for Neo-Nazis selling counterfeit money to the Syndicate. There are Federal agents (Broderick Crawford), Israeli agents, double agents and even Colonel Sanders!  It finally made sense, after reading in the Big Book of Biker Flicks, that the half hour footage of bikers was added to previous film so could be marketed as a biker film.

I remember this one from the 1970s.  Almost a reverse Easy Rider as Blake wants more of life that being a bike cop in the desert.  Great scenery and soundtrack – I even had the album but it was very hard to find the movie until finally out on DVD,

1967 The Acid Eaters “The clock strikes five on a Friday afternoon, and a gang of part-time bohemians hop aboard their motorcycles and hit the highway looking for kicks.” allmovie.com  Because of the above this movie showed in a motorcycle search, while they do ride a lot in the movie, it is not a biker film but a drug film.  Seems the freedom of a bike leads to drugs and sex.  The group doesn’t do anything gang like except for robbing a cager, and wearing red shirts.  And those are off a lot during the film.  The girls are mostly topless so almost seems to be soft porn – fitting DVD is on Something Weird Video label.

Does have a common plot, the beat music and slang. The leader, John Cassavetes, is one of the not so bad guys, trying to find his way. At end he leaves the gang as they rampage the town.

Has migrant workers, beach parties, and swamp buggy races from Naples. Thought had that Florida look. Lists the "Outlaws MC" in credits but no patchs spotted. Actually not a bad plot regardless of the hokness. Something Weird DVD includes a 1960s Cypress Gardens documentary "the Greatest Show on Water".

Not bad of a movie. The police as almost as bad as the bikers. Does have Bud Atlkins (did the famous Great Escape jump among other films) doing some stunts as a biker they chase.

Biker tries to go straight.  Mild biker action, only two rapes and one dead biker.  Good change of pace from the normal formula.  This was William Smith’s first film in long run of biker films.

1969 June Satan’s Sadists reissued as Nightmare Bloodbath  Russ Tamblyn, Robert Dix “The "Satans" are a very cruel biker gang led by Anchor. The gang goes to a diner in the middle of nowhere in the California desert where they begin to terrorize ...” IMDb.  For a movie shot in ten days, this Al Adamson classic has fairly good production, good opening credits, and decent acting. I can see why some call it the Citizen Kane of Biker Movies (but then I never thought Citizen Kane deserved to be the number one AFI film). It is a mild gore with body count at 15.
